GWB before GPS
Like a bridge over trouble waters
With our hands crossed behind our back
Seat of the car that slowly drove across the GWB
Way before GPS but we somehow would find our way
It was us looking out either side of the ride
Seeing water on both sides
Knowing tainted minds never learned to swim
and we were drowning in sin
It was different peeps with quiet streets
and ready for the taking
So we snook so we took from one side of the river
and brought it to the other side of the water
Every dime every nickel and quarter
But the trouble waters we crossed
would soon keep our hands behind our back
Seat of that car now with sirens and driven by blue
We knew
As the cuffs would become ajar
Our wrists would heal
but our conscience would forever bear a scar
It’s a thin line that separates
each side of right and wrong
that is always connected by that metal mental bridge
and it’s really not too far
when we’re looking down … on those trouble waters
Remembering crossing the GWB way before GPS
